These girls were known as the Crane Twins to all those who grew up with them in Upstate New York in a small town called Ballston Spa NY. They went to catholic school in Saratoga Springs and starting working at a very young age in their Dad’s small engine repair shop. Inventorying, helping at the cash register and cleaning equipment. Their parents were both entrepreneurs Their Mom was a seamstress and their Dad was an ironworker and ran the small engine repair shop called The Work Shop in Ballston Spa New York. In fact, Jim and Maggie Crane raised all their children to be entrepreneurs!
They say the first question people ask when they meet is who’s who? The second question is “How many minutes apart where you born?” The answer is forty-eight minutes!
Interesting fact: We are actually Mirror Twins
They came into this world mirroring each other. If you are not familiar with the term Mirror Twins, it simply means if you looked in a mirror everything is opposite on what you look like to someone looking right at you. Little did they know that they would be able to use that to their advantage this late in life but they truly have mastered this phenomenon. It is said that Mirror twins may display different characteristics due to brain hemisphere dominance. One may be more creative ( that’s Peggy) and one may be more analytical ( that’s Patty)
The Art of Working Together
That was learned early…you gotta read this. Peggy was hired for her first real paying job at German Restaurant when she was sixteen years of age to be a coat check girl. She quickly realized that meant she would have to work every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening. So no basketball games, no babysitting jobs, no going out on a date or going to a school dance. So, the two of then hatch the idea that Patty would sneak into the restaurant after Peggy was already at work and train Patty ( who would hide under the coats ) how to do the job. Success! They tell the story that Patty quickly learned what to do and the problem was solved. They would split the money and only have to work every other weekend at the restaurant. No one was ever the wiser. The only challenge was all the money went to Peggy via her paycheck and she had to split it with Patty. They worked that way for an entire winter season in Upstate New York and no one knew. They say their Mom knew, but they think she was more amused than anything. Or, possibly proud.
The Twins Today…
They use their dominant characteristics they were born with, and created a successful top producing real estate team called the Twins Selling Real Estate. They help people just like you with their real estate needs. Peggy is the creative one and she is passionate about marketing, helping people solve challenges and uses here thirty-plus years real estate knowledge in the local Woodbridge Virginia real estate market to guide home sellers from the very first steps of getting a home ready to sell, listing a home, marketing a home and helping and coaching the seller to a successful close. Now Patty, on the other hand, uses her analytical brain. She loves numbers, and helping homes buyers figure out the how, the when and where to buy a home. She has worked in real estate since the late 1980s as a new home sales representative for five national builders. She joined Peggy to form the Twins Selling Real Estate team back in 2015. Now she helps home buyers buy New Homes or resale homes.
The Personal Lifes Outside of Real Estate
Peggy is married to Bill James who was born and raised in Richmond Virginia and a Virginia Tech grad. They live in the community of Potomac Shores in Dumfries Virginia. They married late in life ( second time for both) Peggy likes to tell posting her bio online on Match.com in 2002 helped here rethink online marketing with regard to real estate. She says she was sitting in her living room on a Saturday evening questing everything as to why she had not met anyone. She said she has a talk with herself.” You can sell a home all day long how come you can sell yourself?” That’s when she realized the power of the Internet. Do what you do to sell a house. Share what you have to offer instead of trying to sell yourself. Within days of submitting a new bio online, those looking for what she had posted online were seeking her out and starting a conversation. The lightbulb went on! Just like that, the inquiries started coming in. She met many many nice men, however, there was one who really stood out. That was Bill and one year later they were married in 2003. Neither had children and they both owned dogs. Today successfully married since 2003 and still work full time. They have two West Highland Terries.
Patty is married to Erick Blackwelder. Erick and Patty met when they worked at Steak & Ale on Seminary Rd in Alexandria Virginia in the early eighties. Patty and Erick have been married for about forty years. They have lived in Mt. Vernon, Lake Ridge, Manassas and now they too live in Potomac Shores Dumfries Virginia. They are the proud parents of two grown girls Erin and Page. They also have a new grandbaby born in 2019. They also have a massive Doodle named Tanner. As you drive through the community you will see Erick or Patty taking a stroll with him.
